Error: Unfortunately, GoldenDict Free has stopped.

I installed GoldenDict version 1.6.4 on my LG G3 (D855) android 4.4.2 and then added a babylon glossary (database) to the goldendict folder. Then, whenever I try to open the application it pops up an error saying "Unfortunately, GoldenDict Free has stopped." and by pressing the OK button it closes. I tried to remove the glossaries and again the application asks for putting databases on goldendict folder and we are in the first square. I even tried many times to install/reinstall/uninstall different versions but it is still the same.
What is the problem?

Have you tried other dictionaries? I run the full version on my phones with lots of dictionaries and haven't seen an issue like yours.

I have used different dictionaries and it was still the same. I recently found out that my LG G Pad that I have also updated to android 4.4.2, does not work anymore, showing the same symptoms as my LG G3.
My old HTC Wildfire and not-then-updated G Pad had no problem running this app.
Maybe it has something to do with my rom or it being rooted or something else!
Right now I miss this app on my phone. :(

I have an idea that the problem with my new devices might be the usage of ART instead of Dalvik.
I just upgraded my LG G3 D855 to Android 5 (Lollipop) software version: V20a-AME-XX and as it is a fresh installation it still doesn't run Goldendict properly, but instead of the above mentioned error message, it just quits without any messages!

Ok, I just used CatLog app and I am pasting the error part of the log of GoldenDict here (this log is taken after a dictionary database is indexed and the app has quitted and re-run: when the application just quits without any error message):

11-30 22:41:30.696 D/GoldenDict(7783): WordSearch thread starting

So it seems that it has something to do with the class mobi.goldendict.android.ArticleView

Now if you need any further logs or other info, please tell me about it. I hope this gives you a lead on solving the problem.

I was just contacted by the support team and they mentioned that the problem is because there are different v1.6.4 packages and I needed to install GoldenDict-1.6.4-Android-4.4+-free.apk.

Now the problem is solved.

Thank you guys.

Hi had the same issue 'Unfortunately, GoldenDict has stopped' but with the full version on Android 4.4.2 and 4.4.4. The issue got solved by simply uninstalling and then reinstalling GoldenDict.
