Thanks much for the how-to! I found a discussion of issues related to this here. For other sysadmin-challenged folks like me, the following may help as well:

Make sure you're using /.goldendict/, not /goldendict/ in Linux. Both directories exist, but only modifications placed in /.goldendict/article-style.css will work.

When I tried this, there was already a file with path
/goldendict/article-style.css
and my modifications there (which were due to my misunderstanding) had no obvious effect.

but I created a new blank file and filled it in according to the directions at path
/.goldendict/article-style.css
and that achieved the desired result!

Having changed the font to “AR PL KaitiM GB”, finally I can increase the font size of the chinese characters. I could barely see them before at whatever the default font was, and they wouldn't get bigger when I zoomed in.

改了字形到“AR PL KaitiM GB”,现在字体尺寸才可以放大一点。
