In case anyone needs a Spanish or Quechua translation of StarDict, here are the translations files for those two languages. (I also sent them to Konstantin in an email, but I figured that someone might want them immediately.)
PS: I thought that you guys might find it interesting how we are using GoldenDict. Here is a letter that I sent to Konstantin about it:
Hi,
Our Runasimipi.org project has been using StarDict for years to distribute Quechua and Aymara diccionarios in order to help promote the use of indigenous Andean languages. However we were really frustrated with the limitations of StarDict. Then we discovered GoldenDict. Its interfaz is so much better! I love the double click to search function, the tabs and the ability to easily select dictionaries and dictionary groups without clicking through menus.
Now we are planning on distributing all our dictionaries (
http://www.illa-a.org/cd/) using GoldenDict. I just wanted to say thanks for making this wonderful tool. We will really enjoy it.
Attached are two translations of the GoldenDict interface for Spanish (es) and Quechua (from Bolivia) (qu_BO). We are working on an Aymara (ay_BO) translation as well, which I will send you when we finish.
Also would you mind including the wiphala flag in the list of available icons for dictionary groups?
See:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WiphalaAymara and Quechua speakers would really like to see their flag in the list.
Best regards and thanks again,
Amos Batto

Hi Amos,
I just added your Quechua translation to GoldenDict:
https://github.com/goldendict/goldendic ... e40c438049Regarding Spanish, we already have the whole GoldenDict interface translated to Argentinian Spanish (castellano de Argentina) language. You can find the files here:
https://github.com/goldendict/goldendic ... e/es_AR.tsLet me know if you think we need to add your Spanish translation. Is this Spanish from Spain or any other country?
Thanks for your contribution!
Chulai

And I also have yet another Spanish translation sitting in my mailbox. The ES translation from this topic should be added as es_BO - chulai, would you please add it with this name? I'll merge the es_ES one I have later.

Hi,
I attach here the es_ES translation I have sent to Konstantin some time ago, after confirming that there was none available at that time.
This is an es_ES translation (Spanish from Spain). By the time I did this, only es_AR was available. This is a completely new translation, made from scratch. The only thing I leveraged from the es_AR translation is the translation for language names (there are quite a few, and as far as I was able to check, their translations were Ok in thie es_AR translation). By the way, the language names are not translated in this es_BO translation, and I would suggest to also copy them from the es_AR translation.
I have built Goldendict from source to have this in the list of translations, and I have tested it as much as I was able to do and made the necessary ammendments once I saw every string in its context. I made sure that all the shortcut keys worked.
Yes, this is the third Spanish translation. But keep in mind that Spanish has more than 400M speakers worldwide and only about 44M of them are in Spain. We all speak Spanish, but there are significant differences among the Spanish of the different countries. And this is reflected in the reference dictionary of the Spanish Academy, which is a common effort of the Academies in the different countries and which includes much "country specific" content, labelled as such.
I did not intend to replace the existing es_AR translation. Only to offer an es_ES translation for Spanish speakers in Spain, and a second choice for Spanish speakers from other countries. By the way, please name the language as "Spanish" for this translation. Castellano is another accepted name for the language, but please name it "Spanish" for this translation.
I don't like leaving my name written on the Internet. But if you want it for the credits (and I would like it to be there), please ask me and I will tell you. Or ask Konstantin.
Best regards to all and congratulations for this amazing piece of software.

So how would you like to be attributed? We usually put the name and email of the translator in the CREDITS.txt file, the contents of which is shown in Help|About.

That's ok. I have just sent you my name on a private message. If you need anything else, please let me know. If the person that will actually modify the CREDITS.txt file needs it, please ask me and I will send it the same way.
Thanks and regards.

I just downloaded the GoldenDict source code and the qu_BO.ts file does not appear in the locale directory. It appears that the translation file that I sent you was never added to the GoldenDict source code. Can you please add it.
Thanks, Amos

That's right. I renamed the file. The commit description explained the reason:
Add Quechua translation by Amos Batto. Add Wiphala flag for Aymara and Quechua. Use "qu_WI.ts" instead of "qu_BO.ts" so GoldenDict uses the Wiphala flag and not the flag of Bolivia.

BTW, are you still planning to work in the Aymara translation?
Thanks, Chulai
