1 DDwin
2 Ebwin (most famous)
3 logvista

Epwing format: official and standard electronic dictionary format in Japan.

Is it open or proprietary format? GD is open-source project, to add some format to it means to open this format for all.

No problem, it is an open-source format.
Every publish company can use this format freely, and several software to read this format is also free, such as Ebwin.
Epwing format has several generations, which is strictly regulated by the JIS (Japan industrial standard).

For instance, the following is an offline epwing format wikipedia link:
