It's already there. When I type 'attache' I also see in the suggestion list:
* attache
* attaché

When I type 'cliche' I see in the suggestion list:
* cliche
* cliché

All you need to do is just select the appropriate entry in the suggestion list.

Some language, such as Mandarin, use these alphabets associated with tones as the phonetic symbol. For instance,
Mandarin: 音标 | yīnbiāo
Japanese: 問題 |もんだい

The ideal condition is to use the terms before and after | as search entry. For Japanese, Goldendict is perfect. For mandarin, GD still can not support these ī,ā,.....
Of course, if you input "yinbiao", Goldendict will give you a hit in the result list including "yīnbiāo" , but the way to show the results directly seems to be more convenient and impressive

GoldenDict also supports custom Transliteration engines, so far we have Russian, German, Greek, Belarusian and Japanese Romaji systems.

Maybe something similar can be done for Chinese language, but I'm not expert so I don't know what would be convenient. Maybe Timon Wong might help?
