Add word and meaning to my vocabulary file [Wishlist]

Hi,

It would be nice to "Append" words and meanings to a "user-defined" file, so that those who are learning new words, can save the wordlist and refer them later.

Though we already have "Single" word saving, please add an option to redirect one or more words to a file. thanks.

I think we've discussed this in the past. Goldendict supports lots of formats, some of them are basically text files with easy formatting, which can be edited in any text editor. For example, open any dsl file in a text editor and add any amount of words in the following format:

[tab or space] definition or translation
word 2

I'm not talking about goldendict format but for a means to save (looked up) words to a text/html file, so that the user can refer it later or get a printout of the wordlist.

Say, I don't know the meanings of the following words:

Now that I use golden dict to search for their meaning, what i want is a "Button" which should save the word and meaning into a file say "user.txt"

whenever I click the button [add to <filename>] the current word, which is defined should be appended to the users.txt or users.html file.

in BASH, we do like this (supposing there's a program which outputs the definition and meaning to the std output):

$> dict eclectic >> users.txt
$> dict sordid >> users.txt
$> dict juxtapose >> users.txt

Got it. It's sort of like making a learning glossary for later study. I am certain that ikm (GoldenDict author) will not code this himself but would welcome code contributions from others.

adding "HISTORY"support to GoldenDict would indirectly fixes the wishlist. Though please allow History to be saved in a file.

There is no such file:
I have only these files; and i'm using GoldenDict 0.9+svn version

Even after searching a few words (and also restarting after searching a few keywords), there is no file or folder /history in my ~/.goldendict?

I love this idea, since I am looking for the same thing. I am alternately using both the gnome-dictionary applet and goldendict right now, but neither of them support this functionality. (I also wish goldendict had an option to use a text-window display like gnome-dictionary -- as far as I know this isn't available.)

If you want to make your own dictionary of new words with translation and other information, you should use program Anki (www.ichi2.net/anki).
