[HELP] Can't use on-cursor popups within Goldendict's own UI

Postby artwen » Mon Mar 19, 2012 1:26 pm

Hi guys, I love Goldendict, especially its scan popup function. Also I understand this function can be actually realized in 2 ways: A) on-cursor (can be combined with ctrl, shift and alt keys); and B) from clipboard (the default hotkey is ctrl+c+c).

Now my problem is, I can have pretty popups using method A within many program UIs except for Goldendict itself! So, if I open en.wikipedia.org in a browser, I can use scan popups on-cursor; but if I want to view the wiki page in Goldendict, I have to highlight a word and press ctrl+c+c to bring the popups out - which is very annoying!

Is there a way to solve this? (my UIAutomation, IAccessibleEx and GDMessage are all on)

Same behaviour here. Must be by design.
FYI, you can also use double-click on a word inside GoldenDict. I think this choice is the simplest one.

Thanks for your reply, double-click is handy, but it doesn't fit all situations, e.g., the word you are about to click is a link, or, you want to keep the page while at the same time view extra info. I think on-cursor function should be realized universally among all UIs including Goldendict's own, meanwhile Goldendict provides users an option to turn on/off self-scan, in that way users may enjoy more flexibility.

On-cursor scan popup doesn't work in some applications. For example it doesn't work in QT-based applications, including GoldenDict itself.

I understand. You can also use Ctrl + Double click to open the definition in a new (background) tab inside GD.
And finally, you can use Ctrl + Single click on a link to a definition.

Thanks for your information, I hope there'll be some changes for this in the next version!
