Golden dict and Win 8

Postby activelive » Thu Nov 22, 2012 7:33 am

Dear all,

Does goldendict work well on Win 8?
I used it on Win 8 Enterprise 64 bits and just can translate selected word by press Ctrl + C + C.
The scan popup option doesn't work.

The obvious question is: Are you using version GoldenDict 1.0.1-210-gfb179ac or later?
Download last version from here: https://github.com/goldendict/goldendic ... or-Windows

Аs far as I know, there is no x64 hook library that obtains the word under mouse cursor in 64-bit applications.

But why is it Ctrl-C-C is not enough? It works reliably and pretty well, in comparison to unreliable low-level hooks (and those hooks are unreliable by definition, since they use low-level tricky things trying to figure out the word, and it works not that good).

I haven't used the scan popup in years, and prefer that way, no low-level trickery and workarounds, just good old copy paste that is guaranteed to work in every application.

Yes, there is such support since GoldenDict 1.0.1-210-gfb179ac version. I'm using it in Win 7 64-bit and it works just fine. I usually use Ctrl+C+C, though.

Thanks very much, GoldenDict Developers.

I'm using GoldenDict-1.0.1-367-ga33f037. It works well with Ctrl + C + C. But there're some website that don't allow me to select the word to translate.
I hope that I can use the option scan popup when mouse hover word in win 8 64 bits soon.
